A boutique hotel with a family story

The residences that now make up Newbury Guest House were once occupied in [date/decade] by [name], grand uncle of the hote's current owner and operator David Garabedian. An 1897 map of Newbury Street shows that nearly all its brownstones were single-family homes; very few were flats or multi-family residences. Of the few commercial businesses on the street, two were liveries and one was a stable for carriages and horses. The relatively large size of these enterprises reflects their importance to Newbury Street's typical residents: prosperous families able to afford four-story houses, servants, and carriages.
Newbury Guest House is comprised of three former single-family 1800s Victorian residences built in the Queen Anne and Rustic styles. Renovated in the early 1990s, these three homes were joined to create our 25-room hotel in the heart of Boston. Now independently owned and operated by local Bostonian David Garabedian, the historic inn still features many of the home's original details such as ceiling medallions, parquet and hardwood floors, and decorative fireplaces.

A 1990s Renovation Maintains 1890s Charm
The three former single-family Victorian residences that now comprise Newbury Guest House were built in the Queen Anne and Rustic styles. Renovated in the early 1990s, these three homes were joined to create our small, stylish, 35-room boutique hotel in the heart of Boston, and still feature many of the homes' original details such as ceiling medallions and decorative fireplaces.
